2009 NFL Drafting of Players for Team Usage and Rights
Well, the NFL draft has come and gone and Packers G.M. Ted "TT" Thompson (pictured in his draft-weekend attire) may have had one of his best drafts yet. Click on the Packers Picks image below for the complete list of Packers' picks chosen this year as well as comments from Packer Pat and I.
BJ Raji in the first round could be an anchor for the defensive line for years. It was really a surprise to see him available at pick #9. TT must've crapped his pants when he, all-world WR Micheal Crabtree and other solid players were all available when he came up to pick. He could've had Mike McCarthy hold those names behind his back and he would've selected a great player there. The draft fell into place for the Packers and he picked solid players throughout, including a possible starting Offensive Linemen and a bull of a fullback named Quinn Johnson. That guy will open up some big holes for the Packers running backs.
One thing that wasn't mentioned on ESPN or in almost any media was the pick that the Packers received from the NY Jets for trading Brett Favre, "The Favre Pick" as noted in our Packer's Board. Why? Well, TT traded that pick during the draft to move up and select Clay Matthews in Round 1. Genius. He gave people one less reason to talk about Brett Favre. That's why TT is the General Manager of one of the most historic and powerful teams in professional sports. Nice draft Teddy.
Packer Pat and I also wrote up a Big Board for the entire first round of the draft. Click on it below to see how Round 1 went down. Once you learn a little about these talented college players and all the secrets and strategy behind the picks, you'll know why NFL draft weekend is one of the greatest weekends in sports. And why we get so dorky about it.

"Bar Stool Lenny"
Lenny once told me
that we are living in Hell already.
And whether we sin or not
we are all destined for Heaven.
He should know.
He went to war.
"Floating"
Eyes closed.
Half-floating in Mediterranean Seas.
One half exposed to salty sea air.
Soft winds on the skin.
One half in warm baths.
A bath of cream, but without cover.
Splash your head under.
One half cool and calm.
One half warm and wet.
You in the middle.
